Okay, so I've been checking out all the fantastic artwork on this website, trying like heck to get inspired. It's been so long since I've actually done any real art other than stupid little doodles during staff meeting at work, and not anything that really amounts to much. My creativity has really gone by the wayside, and it's mostly due to the fact that when I moved here from Arizona back in 2002, I took over the care and maintenance of my late mother's gardens. Not to say that there isn't any creativity in gardening, as there certainly is, but it becomes an all-consuming passion that takes over your life, and it's all you have time for. Add to that a 60 hour a week job that requires doing paperwork on your own time, and a father who developed Alzheimer's-dementia, and you can imagine these things would put a damper on anyone's creativity. Oh, and let's not forget to add that my 50th birthday is coming up soon, and I'm soooo wishing I was young again.
Anyhow, so a few days ago I went out and bought a few art supplies, some pens, drawing paper, watercolor paper, and a book on watercolor techniques. I was having trouble with my computer this evening, so with the little time I had before heading off to my overnight shift, I actually ended up doing some practice sketches of cartoon dogs. Blech! Nothing exciting IMO, but at least it was something.
Maybe I can get my puter fixed soon, and I can post some more stuff. I just had a bunch of my old artwork scanned at Staples, and I'm itching to share. A lot of it I'm very pleased with. If I can just get back in the groove and find my mojo, I'll be soooo happy. While I'm waiting for my puter to get fixed, I'll just have to settle for using my smart phone.
